The Calm Tomorrow - Nagi no Asukara (凪のあすから),  is a on-going anime series produced by P.A. Works

Storyline
So the story says, human once lived under the sea. However, there were many humans who wanted to live above the sea and they moved to land, hence creating a fundamental separation between the two. There are still natives living under the sea, a place with developed cities and infrastructure alike the land. The story follows 4 middle school students, Hikari, Manaka, Chisaki and Kaname from the sea village Shioshishio, who had their school closed down, and had to attend Mihama Middle School on the land. What follows is their struggles to adjust to the land environment, and the relationships between the sea and land people.

Poor Chisaki, must be your sushi tasted too authentic aren't they?
The World
The biggest difference between the people from the surface and the people of the sea, is the "Ena" what covers the people of the sea. Ena is similar to the amnion that covers the fetus, and the people on the surface break through this when they are born. But the people of the sea are born with this being a part of their skin, just like scales on a fish. The people of the sea are able to breathe underwater because they have Ena.

Don't worry they don't swim naked in the anime.
A child born between a person from the surface and a person from the sea, is born without Ena - and that means a great deal because then sea people will have lesser descendants when this happens. That is why, when people from the sea marry someone from the surface, they will be banished from Shioshishio, and that has been a tradition ever since the beginning... This further strains the relationship between the sea and the land people.

Haha yes! Very considerate of you Tsumugu! ^^
Sea people can sustain on land, until some time after when their skin starts to flake off. They need to be partially submerged in water if they were to stay on land over a prolonged period. As you watch on, you will see more and more of incidences where the 4 of them try to adapt better to the land environment, together with the help of their new land friend, Tsumugu Kihara. Tsumugu was the first to meet 1 of the 4 friends, and he did so by reeling Manaka in a net during one of his fishing trip with his grandfather!

Hey! Look what I caught! This is easier than Pokemon!
Will it waste your time?
No, I think no hahaha. The graphics are great for this anime. Light-hearted, funny, and very fantasy kind of creation. The environment is beautiful, especially when it's underwater. Different from the usual mermaid life that many of us know of - the stage of development, the infrastructure and the standard of living of sea people are pretty much on par with the land; they have buildings, houses, can cook, eat, drink, sleep, walk, jump, pretty much everything the same (all enabled because they have the almighty ENAAA) and even more, they can swim around as well.

But of course, it's not everyday that you get a chance to put a girl in tub!
So I don't pretty quite understand why people would want to move to the land since it seems like you are capable of doing more stuffs in the water, no? Plus you may have a random tako swimming past you and you could just grab them for dinner or something lol. Enjoy watching the relationship that builds up along the way between the main characters, and the struggles they had to go through to gain respect and trust between the sea and land people. Overall, thumbs up and totally worth your time watching! ^^
