A 1973 science fiction novel by Taku Mayumura. Since then, it has been adapted into four television dramas in 1977, 1982, 1987 and 1997. Two live-action films were produced in 1981 and 1997. This anime film  is produced by Sunrise and directed by Ryousuke Nakamura.

First thing first, visually, this film is an enjoyment. Graphics are soft and accompanied with vibrant colours. Environment is lifelike. Character animation is myly smooth, fantastic. Being a visually-orientated creature (who says only guys are visual-creatures? lol), all these has to pass before I can settle down to get onto the story!

You mad bro?

This story mainly consists of romance, slice of life and sci-fi element, which is time travel and the impending apocalypse. Ryouichi Kyougoku is a mysterious time traveling psychic from the future and he got enrolled into the 8th grade. The world on Earth had ended in the future and human had moved to settle on the moon instead. Ryouichi has been sent to Earth on a mission to awaken as much psychics in the present world (Earth) and move them to settle on the moon as humankind has already depleted to leave merely countable numbers in the future. As with the other character, yes one of them has supposedly inert psychic talent which has yet to be awaken and Ryouichi's target is to combat him for some reason which you have to watch on.

I'm going to be a transporter.

I have to admit I was totally lost throughout the first 1/3 of the movie, partly because I didn't bother to get a rough idea of what the plot is about. It may get messy because the story is illustrated in small snippets of rollback memories etc and jumping from one scene to another; you know how some films have a manner of story-telling which wants viewers to think and relate or infer from the different time-frame of the snippets shown? It feels something like this to me :/ The matter only got clearer to me after it progresses to about second half.

Overall, it's an ok film to watch, you probably won't waste time. The friendship between the characters are sweet yet painful at times. I enjoy especially watching the environment in the story. It covers up a little for the myly time-travel thingy, haha!
