What to do when there's too many nice animes?!

Watch them all !!!!! It's a blessing than trouble since nice animes are hard to come by :'D
Here are some which I am enjoying right now and would like to recommend!

Ao Haru Ride
Title: Ao Haru Ride
Genre:  Shōjo, School, Romance.

Female lead character, Yoshioka Futaba has a few reasons why she wants to "reset" her image & life as a new high school student. Because she's cute, she was ostracized by her female friends in junior high, and because of a misunderstanding, she couldn't get her feeling across to the one boy she has ever liked, Tanaka-kun.

Now in high school, she is determined to be as unladylike as possible so that her friends won't be jealous of her. While living her life this way contentedly, she meets Tanaka-kun again, but he now goes under the name of Mabuchi Kou. He tells her that he felt the same way as she did when they were younger, but now things can never be the same again. Will Futaba be able to continue her love that never even started from three years ago?

A light-hearted story, and many instances of throwback to let you have a peep into the main character's sweet puppy-love when they were in elementary school. It then goes on to add on a little humour and life lesson about friendship which many of us may come across in our life. It's a story that viewers may find it close to heart and enjoy ^^

Zankyou No Terror
Title: Zankyou No Terror
Genre: Mystery, Suspense, Psychological, Thriller

Tokyo has been decimated by a shocking terrorist attack, and the only hint to the identity of the culprit is a bizarre video uploaded to the internet, and the police are powerless to stop the paranoia spreading across the population.

While the world searches for a criminal mastermind to blame for this tragedy, two mysterious children — children who shouldn't even exist — masterfully carry out their heinous plan. Cursed to walk through this world with the names Nine and Twelve, the two combine to form "Sphinx,"

I must say this series really captivated me right from the first episode. Knowing that it's a story revolving around terrorists, I can't really imagine how it could be like. The story goes on to reveals things little by little, leaving the audience to think about it and come up with theories about the character's motives. Definitely a must-watch-on for me.

Tokyo Ghoul
Title: Tokyo Ghoul
Genre: Action, Mystery, Horror, Supernatural, Psychological

Story set in Tokyo, haunted by mysterious "ghouls" who are devouring humans. People are gripped by the fear of these ghouls whose identities are masked in mystery. An ordinary college student named Kaneki encounters Rize, a girl who is an avid reader like him, at the café he frequents. Little does he realize that his fate will change overnight. Kaneki ended his "date" being attacked by Rize, and under an unknown circumstances, Rize died in instant death after an accident that happened right after. Kaneki was sent to hospital, and that fateful day, he became a "half-ghoul" after he had Rize's organs transplanted into him to save his life.

A scary entrance to the story with some horror of people eating people ._. The story progresses to show how Kaneki eventually came to know fellow ghouls and learn the "way of life" being a ghoul. He's unable to eat the normal human food anymore and was pretty sad thinking that he had to leave his old friend to prevent himself from hurting his friend.

Ghouls look exactly like human, except the difference in diet. Ghouls are prosecuted by CCG (The Commission of Counter Ghoul) due to their eating habits. The story sets me thinking about humanity. What is the definition of being human. What does it mean to be a human being? What makes you not a human being? What makes ghouls so different from humans? Stronger ghouls eat weaker humans. Stronger human kills weaker ghoul. Stronger humans eat weaker animals. Both consume other living organisms to survive so why is any species any way above the other? It is a battle of survival which is happening in nature, driving extinction of the weakest link.

ArcheAge Closed Beta 3 & 4 Review

Adventuring with friends :)
After a long hiatus I'm finally back to blogging. Have been busy lately. With work and etc. Good thing ArcheAge came along which helps to relieve some stress x)

This shall be a continuation from my previous post A sneak peek at new #MMORPG: ArcheAge . My friends and I managed to participate in Closed Beta 3 and 4. Just like to share some of my thoughts on how ArcheAge fair so far :)

Well, Trion is very smart to offer an exclusive Founder's package at 3 different price point, where you get advanced access to other features of the BETA. The cheapest package costs USD 49.99 and you get like... 4 days headstart against other F2P players? Hmm, just not really sure if it's really worth it to spend just for "additional" Beta access :/

The biggest impression left after the end of CB4 was the complexity of the class builds (whooping 120 types) and the intensity of the dungeon. You can practically create any job by mixing any 3 classes attributes, and so I chose the route of Shadowplay (like assassin), Battlerage (like fighter) and Archery which gives you a job call "Outrider". Sounds cool enough, and I'm pretty happy with this mix which gives pretty high dps. With dual-wielded swords and a bow, it's a hybrid strong melee and relatively strong ranged character as well which I've never tried before in any other MMOs. There's already a bunch of resources created about ArcheAge's complexed job system so would like to share a few good sites here:

Highlights in CB4

Beautiful airship thingy *-*
Well, being in Closed Beta, it'd be the best time for anyone to try anything crazy since you are a "tester". My friends and I went exploring quite a lot, other than the conventional game progress of levelling and questing. ArcheAge's landscape has so much to offer, you'll be disappointing the developers if you decide not to explore their lands :)

Grow your own mount. Hitching a ride on a Nuian's mount is fun.

Gliding with friends!
We got our first mount as Nuian at level 6, easy enough - Just be sure not to skip a single quest. We next got our glider at level 10 through quest as well. I must say, flying in ArcheAge is really fuuun and easyyyyy to control! We had much fun gliding down from mountains and across the sea. Note that you have a limit of 3 minutes flight time before it deactivates and you go crashing down the ground ^^ Not to worry as most of the time you will not hit onto a 3 mins glide unless you get onto a really high altitude xD

Oh yes, pretty girl can climb a tree too :)

Few interesting things we learnt in CB4 - harvesting crops from other's public farms will leave your footprints where other players can report you ^^. Overdoing "crimes" like this, or killing players from the same faction gives you Crime Points and where you eventually can be put on trial and go to jail. And when you commit too many crimes you can turn into a pirate as well ^^ Auroria island is a place where pirates reside. Going back to Nuia or Haranya - NPCs or players will be able to attack you lol. Pretty interesting. Kind of like to try living a life of a pirate :D

Oh thiefy :3
The most exciting part of our short adventure in CB4 would definitely be our sailing experience. We didn't have time to build a huge sailing boat, but we were so eager to sail out so heck it, 5 of us squeeze into our pathetic row boat and started our adventure anyway! :P

Chicken Burgers! This is really too cramp and no leg space! D:
We set off in the day from Nuia's Dewstone Plains to Haranya. On our way there, we discovered some small isolated island where nobody resides and somebody planted mushrooms there lol.

Small deserted island!

Dotted line marks our route! It was really fun!
It took us quite long by manual rowing. Not to mention there were also sea bugs and gaint jellyfish jumping about and attacking our boat during our ride! It was so scary. We quickly jumped off our boat and 4 of us died leaving our tanker alone in the open sea! D: She was so afraid and could only swim to the shore of Haranya while the jellyfish continues to whack our friend's boat ><. 4 of us eventually managed to row our boat AGAIN via a shorter route to reach Haranya. We reached at dawn and was in time for the beautiful sunrise :D

Arriving at Haranya at dawn with our friend from Haranya welcoming us! xD
Successfully arrived at Haranya after much ordeal :D
You can see the obvious difference in the environment and terrain when you arrive at the opposing faction. Haranya is beautiful ^^ Buildings and trees look different as well :) When we first disembarked on the shores of Haranya, we were careful to look out for any possible enemies because we could be ganged anytime X) Luckily only a few were on shore. We couldn't understand what they are saying because you could only see gibberish texts :D makes it all the more realistic ^^ You gotta learn their language at a later part if you want to understand what your enemy is speaking.

We went on to venture into the lands of Haranya, only to be chased after by NPCs! Hahahaha, 2 of us died and was resurrected at the temple LOL. Our spy friend from Haranya was telling us that other Haranians were shouting to call on other Haranians to come to kill us xD

I really like this liondance mount! Way too cute! LOL.
We met some friends over here as well, but couldn't communicate hahahhaa. Looking forward to Open Beta which starts this 4th Sept!

Nice scenary :)

I shall take a selfie ^^

Cardcaptor Sakura: Finally on Nendoroid!

Good Smile Company's Nendoroid #400 is Sakura Kinomoto!
Cardcaptor Sakura was one the series I watched when I first started out watching anime. As I was looking through Good Smile Company's online shop last year, I realised Sakura wasn't in there and so I was quite surprised since Cardcaptor has been around for a long time. Never did I realised till recently, that Sakura has actually been confirmed by Kahotan from GSC in Feb this year that she is given the prestigious spot of #400 Nendoroid to be produced this year!

I will give you my money GSC! This is toooo adorable! ^^ I think the preorder date hasn't been announced yet, so I'm eagerly waiting for it!

Really hope Square Enix can have GSC model Tifa, Cloud, Yuna, Tidus, Lightning and Noctis everythinggggg in the series! Should get pretty crazy response from FF fans out there right? ;)

Anime: Nagi no Asukara (凪のあすから)

The Calm Tomorrow - Nagi no Asukara (凪のあすから),  is a on-going anime series produced by P.A. Works

Storyline
So the story says, human once lived under the sea. However, there were many humans who wanted to live above the sea and they moved to land, hence creating a fundamental separation between the two. There are still natives living under the sea, a place with developed cities and infrastructure alike the land. The story follows 4 middle school students, Hikari, Manaka, Chisaki and Kaname from the sea village Shioshishio, who had their school closed down, and had to attend Mihama Middle School on the land. What follows is their struggles to adjust to the land environment, and the relationships between the sea and land people.

Poor Chisaki, must be your sushi tasted too authentic aren't they?
The World
The biggest difference between the people from the surface and the people of the sea, is the "Ena" what covers the people of the sea. Ena is similar to the amnion that covers the fetus, and the people on the surface break through this when they are born. But the people of the sea are born with this being a part of their skin, just like scales on a fish. The people of the sea are able to breathe underwater because they have Ena.

Don't worry they don't swim naked in the anime.
A child born between a person from the surface and a person from the sea, is born without Ena - and that means a great deal because then sea people will have lesser descendants when this happens. That is why, when people from the sea marry someone from the surface, they will be banished from Shioshishio, and that has been a tradition ever since the beginning... This further strains the relationship between the sea and the land people.

Haha yes! Very considerate of you Tsumugu! ^^
Sea people can sustain on land, until some time after when their skin starts to flake off. They need to be partially submerged in water if they were to stay on land over a prolonged period. As you watch on, you will see more and more of incidences where the 4 of them try to adapt better to the land environment, together with the help of their new land friend, Tsumugu Kihara. Tsumugu was the first to meet 1 of the 4 friends, and he did so by reeling Manaka in a net during one of his fishing trip with his grandfather!

Hey! Look what I caught! This is easier than Pokemon!
Will it waste your time?
No, I think no hahaha. The graphics are great for this anime. Light-hearted, funny, and very fantasy kind of creation. The environment is beautiful, especially when it's underwater. Different from the usual mermaid life that many of us know of - the stage of development, the infrastructure and the standard of living of sea people are pretty much on par with the land; they have buildings, houses, can cook, eat, drink, sleep, walk, jump, pretty much everything the same (all enabled because they have the almighty ENAAA) and even more, they can swim around as well.

But of course, it's not everyday that you get a chance to put a girl in tub!
So I don't pretty quite understand why people would want to move to the land since it seems like you are capable of doing more stuffs in the water, no? Plus you may have a random tako swimming past you and you could just grab them for dinner or something lol. Enjoy watching the relationship that builds up along the way between the main characters, and the struggles they had to go through to gain respect and trust between the sea and land people. Overall, thumbs up and totally worth your time watching! ^^

New Anime series: Log Horizon

Log Horizon is a new anime series with a MMORPG genre. Knowing this, many may start comparing it to the ever popular Sword Art Online, and soooo, I've decided to watch it myself and see how good it can be. Just some background info and thoughts after watching the first 2 and only episodes so far (since it's a new and on-going anime). For those who plan to watch it, this will probably give you a slight idea, just in case if you are still thinking it may resemble SAO.

First off it is pretty much different from SAO, except for it having a MMORPG background (and characters being trapped), it has no other major similarities with it.

Some history just to kick off~ Log Horizon (ログ・ホライズン) is a Japanese novel series by Mamare Touno. It was first created as a novel, and later received 4 manga adaptations. The anime adaptation began airing on NHK Educational TV on 5 October 2013.

The story follows the main character Shiroe and the other players of the long-lived MMORPG Elder Tale after they find themselves trapped in the game world following a game update. Like usual MMORPG with expansion packs, Elder Tale has become a global success in Japan in its 11th expansion pack, having millions of players. During the release of its 12th expansion pack Novasphere Pioneers however, 30000 Japanese gamers who are all logged on at the time of the update suddenly find themselves transported inside the game world. Shiroe, along with his friends Naotsugu and Akatsuki then decided to travel and explore together in order to "live" this world which has now become their reality, along with the challenges which lie ahead.

Next, to introduce the main characters:

Shiroe
Main character Shiroe, donning a pair of glasses, is a battle strategist among his group of friends. He plays the Enchanter in the game. He is a calm and strategic support mage - Not your usual front-line fighter with overpowered attacks for a main character. Looks rather plain for a main character ain't it? Hopefully we get to know more about him. Or perhaps he is one who will impress us with his wits as the story moves on :)

Naotsugu
Naotsugu, friend of Shiroe is a cheerful and "perverted" guy. He is honest about what he thinks and often says things which pisses Akatsuki off. He is playing as Guardian, which is a tanker class.

Akatsuki
Akatsuki is a serious but cute looking character playing the assassin class in the game. She calls Shiroe "Lord" and sees her role as protecting Shiroe after being accepted into the group. She pretty much behaves like a ninja, as her subclass is a tracker with abilities like "Sneak" and "Silent Move"; she is able to kill swiftly with her Assassinatoooo skills, AND solemnly protect and "work" for only one master lol. You may also see her asking Shiroe for permission to whack Naotsugu after he says some "perverted" things.

Pretty decent if it's a real MMORPG I would think.

Episode 1 basically introduces you to how the world of Elder Tale is like, but it doesn't explain why and how the players got transported inside the game. So the creator probably prefers to leave you figure out later how and why this happened. First episode IMO, feels not as impressive because there was a load of things unexplained and there aren't many battle scenes as well. Episode 2 looks much better, as it starts to show the MMO party setup during the few first battle scenes where the characters used some recognisable skills like taunt and movement-binding spells. The story starts to show some direction as well in episode 2.

Animation and graphics wise are okay, nothing fantastic. If you are expecting beautiful environments and flashy skill animations you may be in for some disappointment. Characters and setups are rather different (if you're comparing to SAO), so there should be a lot of opportunities for development as the story goes on. Opening theme is rather hilarious lol, because it sounds kind of straight-forward making it a little blunt. There are parts in English and then Japanese and English again for the chorus. Entertaining though, no doubt lol.

Watch me whack more of Naotsugu.

With the main plot still being unclear, there are a lot to discover and expect for viewers, which is good for continuity of the series. I think it’s enjoyable to watch and worth your time, especially if you are into MMORPG.

Halloween

Ohh, after the lunar 7th month is over, halloween's around the corner ^^ Have you got any ideas yet where to go, what to wear, how to play? I think this year's halloween scene in Singapore is quite happening.

There's a few venues having parties and events. For one, the popular RaceTheDead to be held at Sentosa has overwhelming responses, and extended its event for another day. It's a 5km run with obstacles for the survivors, and hordes of zombies to stop you from running to the safe house. It's like playing L4D in real life, only without weapons.

Sentosa has many events going on, just for Halloween alone. There's a night event on the same day as RaceTheDead on 26 October called the Zombie Party at Wavehouse. Seems like zombie theme is very popular nowadays. Too much L4D and zombie apocalypes movie or what? Haha ^^

11 Oct - 3 Nov 2013
This year there's also the Halloween Horror Night organised by Universal Studios Singapore again, after 2 consecutive successful years. The event is going to be on for almost the whole month of October on every weekends starting from 11 October till the 3rd November. Only thing for this party is that, participants cannot dress up and go for this party...Erm? They explain it's for the safety and security of the guests and the scare actors. Prolly don't want to mess up the real actors and the guests haha. Ticket is at $68/each and $60/each for early bird. Not cheap ehh to get yourself scared....

19, 25, 26 & 31 Oct, 1 & 2 Nov 2013
The next event in Sentosa, is the Sentosa Spooktacular Night at Fort Siloso. Wle, I think for this I definitely would not go because I have a small kokoro and I cannot take fake scares and maybe real scares also (I don't know but Fort Siloso used to be the place where real war happened in the past you see). Apparently the organisers understand that there are people like me so they have a special pass for this event call Kia Gui at a cheaper rate of $16.60 ^0^~

FREE EVENTS (26 Oct 2013)
We want to play, and all these events make us Pay-And-Pay!!! Are they any free parties then?!

Yes, you can go walk walk with fellow zombies for free at Singapore Zombie Walk on 26 October (like Big Walk but zombified?  Hmmm the name is not very creative huhhh :3) Event will be held at The Cathay, and you will be part of the zombie horde (chiong ahhh* runs after boomer bile*) However, they have a cap for this event at 500 people so that it is only capped at 100 irregal gatherings? :D

Another free event would be at Asian Civilisation Museum on 26 October as well. There will be performances and ghostly movie screenings. Actually I think if they just close the whole museum and let people wander on their own may be more scary.... Because it's night at the museum... :O

Other events which are free could be those organised by clubs or nightbars. I remember last year Zouk's Halloween event is to let participants who dresses up enter free, while those who just went as normal being has to pay for the usual cover charge ^^.

Any ideas for dressing up for Halloween? What characters would be interesting? Shall skip the usual hot girl with flashing horns, and draculas.. My friends and I are thinking to do a zombified Crayonpop since we're going for the Zombie Party at Wavehouse. But, does anybody know Crayonpop in Singapore? :/ Or maybe a female hunter would be cool as well :) Comment below if you have got ideas to share lol :D
